Lab history

Storia laboratorio

It was 1959 when Lino Zampieri and Giuseppe Avesani decided to leave the goldsmith Paiola in Verona to open their own workshop in the Sgarzerie court, in the heart of the historic center of the city of Verona.

(L.A.O.) SINCE 1959 AN EXCLUSIVE HISTORY OF MORE THAN HALF A CENTURY.

Luigi Zampieri, brother of Lino, and Nereo Danzi started working immediately in the new laboratory.
The Laboratorio Arte Orafa remains in the Sgarzerie court for 10 years, until it is moved to street number 6 of via Santa Eufemia, where it is still located today.

OUR LABORATORY

Since its origins, the laboratory provides all the support services necessary for the jewelers of the city, but also creates unique jewels according to their requests. At the same time it specializes in the production of antique-style jewelery, a goldsmith’s art that is almost lost in modern jewelry, but which is still one of the excellence of Laboratorio Zampieri.

After a serious illness, Lino disappears in 1978. His creation, however, continues with the entry into society, together with Giuseppe Avesani, of Luigi and Nereo. A partnership that offers great satisfaction until 1996, when Giuseppe also dies. It is up to Luigi and Nereo, then, to carry on the workshop, supported by the son of the first, Leonardo, who, even if was very young, is passionate about the goldsmith’s art demonstrating an innate talent. In this period the Zampieri Laboratory realizes jewels for different famous brands, jewelry admired in the sector fairs all over Europe.

In 2001, after completing his studies, Leonardo decided to devote himself entirely to his passion for goldsmith’s art and, after attending some specialization courses – among the most qualifying ones, the one in embedding and the one in wax modeling – he entered to all effects in the staff of Laboratorio Zampieri.

In 2012, Luigi and Nereo decided to enjoy their well-deserved retirement, so Laboratorio Arte Orafa Zampieri passed into the hands of Leonardo, who did not distort the original spirit of the activity, but enhanced it with new technical and stylistic solutions. So the business remains to give a complete service to the jewelers of the city of Verona, but not only, and create unique jewelry for anyone who wants to own one. Everything is always under the watchful eye of father Luigi, who has not lost his love for the goldsmith’s art and always remains a precious reference point.

The goal of Leonardo Zampieri is to keep alive the true tradition of the goldsmiths, drawing on the techniques handed down by Uncle Lino, but embellishing every work with the use of new technologies.

In 2020 he joined Leonardo, Moreno Vesentini, also a goldsmith and son of art and specialized in the use of CAD technology in the goldsmith field; Moreno and Leonardo acquire two new premises and expand the laboratory, which returns to the original LAO name. With the increase of the surface and with the contribution of new technologies, the laboratory is completed in its structure offering even more services and becoming a reference point for the city of Verona.

The great strength of the Goldsmith Workshop is that each jewel is conceived, created and finished within the workshop itself.
